A Senior Electrical Designer will lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and electrical plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.
• Lead various electrical project designs including electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design. Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
• Lead drawing, planning, development and production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
• Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and refining rough sketches.
• Lead the evaluation of designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance.
• Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables.
• Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
• Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
• Compute volume calculations for conduit/grounding layouts, equipment and panel wiring diagrams, and relay panel schematics under the direction of the engineer.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's with a minimum of fourteen years related experience or associate's degree in drafting technology and a minimum of seventeen years progressive detailing and design experience.
• Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
• Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
• Expert knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
• Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.

The SpaceX Ground Segment team is responsible for a worldwide network of ground stations, launch site communications infrastructure, launch site optical tracking, recovery RF and optical systems, NASA Flight Operations interfaces, NASA Space Network integration, operational voice, mission control video, communications readiness testing, and real-time operations for Falcon, Dragon, and Starship missions.
Responsibilities
• Perform real-time ground segment operations according to timeline, procedures and flight rules
• Perform pre and post mission analyses
• Support and perform as a member of the flight control team for Falcon, Dragon, and Starship
• Interface with external partners (private and government) to define control hardware and software interfaces for ground-to-space and ground-to-ground communication systems
• Assist in the development of highly intuitive and automated operational interfaces for a variety of both commercial and SpaceX-built hardware
• Support mission critical voice communications
• Coordinate worldwide telemetry services for Day of Launch/prelaunch activities. May include SpaceX, commercial, AFSCN, and/or range telemetry sites
• Perform trade studies to define communication system requirements and optimizations
